What Is Data as a Service (DaaS)?

Data as a Service (DaaS) is a cloud-based model that delivers ready-to-use data on demand, so businesses can consume datasets without building or maintaining their own collection infrastructure.

How DaaS differs from software

Traditional software delivers tools; DaaS delivers the output itself — cleaned, structured, and updated data delivered via API, file feed, or database connection. The provider handles collection, cleaning, and maintenance, while the customer simply consumes the dataset.

Typical delivery formats

DaaS providers commonly deliver data as JSON or CSV files, direct API endpoints, or scheduled feeds pushed to cloud storage. This lets teams plug external data straight into their own systems without running scrapers or managing proxies themselves.
