What Is Structured Data?

Structured data is information organized according to a predefined format or schema, such as rows and columns in a table, or key-value pairs in JSON, making it easy to search, sort, and analyze.

Structured vs. unstructured

Structured data fits neatly into a fixed schema (think spreadsheets or relational database tables). Unstructured data — free text, images, audio — has no fixed format and typically needs additional processing before it can be analyzed at scale.

Why it matters for scraped data

Raw web pages are unstructured HTML. The value of a scraping service comes largely from converting that unstructured page into clean, structured output — a consistent set of fields the customer’s systems can consume directly.
